Common but collected

1976 Bicentennial Quarter Value

The 1776–1976 Bicentennial quarter (drummer-boy reverse, dual date) was made in huge numbers for circulation in copper-nickel — so circulated examples are worth face value. The Mint also sold special 40% silver collector versions.

Key facts

  • Circulating coins: copper-nickel clad, no silver — worth 25 cents.
  • Collector issues: 40% silver (≈0.0739 oz) proof and uncirculated coins sold by the Mint — these carry a silver premium.
  • Dual date “1776–1976”; no quarters were dated 1975.
