1965 Dime Value
1965 was the first year of the copper-nickel clad dime — the silver was removed. So a normal 1965 Roosevelt dime is worth ten cents. The rare exception is a 1965 dime mistakenly struck on a leftover 90% silver planchet.
Key facts
- Composition: copper-nickel clad, no silver — worth face value.
- The 1965 “silver” transitional error (struck on a 90% silver planchet) is a rare, valuable mistake — it weighs more (2.5 g vs 2.27 g) and has a silver edge.
- 1965 coins carry no mintmark (mintmarks were paused 1965–1967).
